Here at Hain Daniels we're currently recruiting for a QA Manager at our Fruit and drinks factory in Corby. The purpose of the role is to manage the technical function on site. To lead, guide and develop reporting members of the technical function and to establish and maintain a culture of high technical standards. You will be required to manage relationships with technical representatives of customers and to ensure full compliance with their requirements for food safety. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deputy to Technical Manager
  • Expert on technical compliance - legal, external audit protocols, customer requirements, ensuring site systems are kept up to date with latest requirements
  • Assist the technical manager with or deputise in their absence with customer contact and audits.
  • Site HACCP leader and management of HACCP and TACCP system
  • Management of site allergen risk assessment and associated segregation procedures
  • Management and support of the site product integrity schedule
  • Part of trained audit team on site, contributing to internal and external audit programmes
  • Manage internal audit responses, to ensure root cause analysis is adopted, and appropriate corrective and preventive action is completed.
  • Management of site micro risk assessments and schedule.
  • Management of site pest control.
  • Management of calibration schedule and risk assessments.
  • Lead new equipment introduction from Technical perspective.
  • Management of site complaints action plan to drive performance in liaison with operations teams
  • Provide advice to operations team on technical (legal, quality, safety, integrity) matters, authorising considered, risk assessed concessions, where necessary, where the need to deviate from procedure arises, in order to maintain food safety and legality
  • Represent site on technical systems during customer and third party audits
  • Maintain site standards to ensure compliance with legal, customer and company requirements
  • Work closely with other operational teams to build a true operations quality ownership culture
  • Ensure Quality Management Systems are maintained and that they are the basis on which the site operates and manages the business, ensuring that the unit is provided with all necessary technical and process information
  • Conduct and evaluate technical projects as part of the continuous improvement programme
  • Carry out process validation studies
  • Manage and develop reporting structure to meet the needs of the company and to ensure that the resources are focussed on meeting the needs of the customer

What you will need for the role / what it will take

  • Degree/ HND in a Food or Science Discipline
  • Lead Auditor Qualified
  • Practical experience in chilled food at supervisory level or above
  • Demonstrable understanding of systems which control food safety, legality and quality, eg HACCP, GMP, Hygiene
  • Internal auditing experience
  • Supplier auditing experience
  • Working understanding of food microbiology
  • Working understanding of food labelling
  • Computer literate
  • Clear communicator
