The Role

Here at Hain Daniels we are currently recruiting for Team Leaders at our Gateshead site. Here, we manufacture freshly prepared fruit for both the retail and convenience channels, as well as key foodservice partners. We make high quality, delicious food-to-go products.

The role of Team Leader will be to work in collaboration with Shift Production Managers, covering all aspects of operational performance within your designated area, ensuring all departmental KPI's are met through the effective leadership and management of your team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a designated production Team in the achievement of departmental / area specific KPI’s (productivity, labour costs, waste, yield, KPH etc...) to meet overall business aims and objectives.
  • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure the daily production plan is clear and Technical requirements / specifications are met in line with customer expectations.
  • Responsibility for CCP’s, QCP’s and GMP within your designated area; ensuring compliance with all legal and technical requirements.
  • Management of designated team performance to ensure customer and company expectations are met or exceeded (training & development activities, people management requirements).
  • Responsible for holiday allocation, absence management, investigations, appraisals, training, performance reviews, labour planning/management, cost control, quality and H&S requirements within your designated area.
  • Health & Safety focus, ensuring your team is trained to the required standard and in line with legal framework and company requirements. Liaise with the Training function on a regular basis to ensure compliance within your designated area. Required to carry out accident investigations, review Risk Assessments and perform regular H&S audits within your designated area.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments within your area are current and reviewed regularly – ensure your team is formally trained / appropriate sign off by a member of the training team.
  • Monitor performance within your designated area throughout the shift, identifying any issues and delivering on solutions to ensure production targets are met and customer requirements are fulfilled (highlighting performance levels and proposed action plans / delivery of action plans to the Shift Production Manager).
  • Continuously review and implement improvement initiatives within your designated area to improve all areas of performance including cost control / cost reduction.
  • Develop your team in line with business requirements and ensure a robust succession plan is in place within your designated area.
  • You may be required to deputise in the absence of the Shift Production Manager (must proactively seek ways to continuously develop towards this level) and may also be required to work across different departments to suit the needs of the business/to develop business understanding and skills set.
  • Will carry out other duties as required by the business.

What you will need for the role / what it will take

  • Proven supervisory skill level relating to the area concerned and within a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and delivery in lean manufacturing production techniques/process improvement.
  • Able to understand and implement Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Must be able to lead, instruct and motivate others.
  • Inherent understanding of site Hygiene, Technical, Quality and Health & Safety.
  • Computer knowledge & an understanding of ERP (NAV) system.
  • Effective communicator at all levels.
  • Good problem solving ability with a proactive approach.
  • Can demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude.
