The Role

Hain Daniels are currently recruiting for a Shift Manager at our site in Northallerton. In Northallerton, we manufacture fresh soups and porridge for our Yorkshire Provender brand, and some products under retail / foodservice private label.

The role of Shift Manager is to lead an efficient production shift, optimising product quality, GMP, customer service, cost, margin and Health & Safety. Specific responsibilities include delivering and exceeding consistent performance targets with a well-trained team, where there is a open communication at all levels and a clear focus on continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for the site and take the lead for all factory operations outside of normal working hours. Hours will be days or nights across shifts Mon-Fri & night shifts will only be applicable during our peak periods (roughly Sept-Feb). You must be prepared to work both days and nights.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage factory performance, in line with Health & Safety, labour, materials, and customer service.
  • Maintain factory performance systems to explain all variances and input to future budgets. Examples include compliance to QAS, GMP, H&S, KPI boards, line efficiency, yields, waste, give-away, and downtime.
  • Review production plans.
  • Provide information of issues to the daily production meetings to ensure that all opportunities for improvement are captured and implemented.
  • Ensure all safety related incidents are fully investigated, and actions implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure all hours worked by staff is captured and reported accurately.
  • Provide clear leadership in the recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of all personnel.
  • Appraise performance through Personal Development Reviews and training opportunities for the teams.
  • Lead effective weekly briefings with all staff.
  • Ensure attendance is managed through absence management and completion of return to work interviews.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, technical, and legislative policies and procedures.

What you will need for the role / what it will take

  • Experienced within the food industry, as a Shift Manager or equivalent.
  • Relevant food manufacturing qualifications, including food hygiene, and H&S training.
  • Experience with HACCP, allergens, food processing systems and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • IT literate.
