The Role

Hain Daniels are currently recruiting for a Process Engineer at our Histon site. In Histon, we manufacture a host of ambient sweet spreads and jellies for our grocery brands. These includes Hartley's jams and jellies, Gale's honey, Rose's marmalades, Sun-Pat peanut butter, and the dairy free brand Dream.

Your key responsibilities will be to develop and implement process improvement strategies to meet Site and Department 3 year Process Improvement plans. You will identify and manage resources to execute process improvement projects. As part of multifunctional teams, you will develop new processes for high efficiency and cost effectiveness. You prioritise and develop projects based on critical needs, customer requirements and product quality requirements and demands. You will be expected in conjunction with other stakeholders to optimize current processes to meet all customer and internal requirements. As a key player on the site, you will recommend new ideas and techniques to ensure project success, evaluate current processes and provide recommendations. In addition, perform process design, development, and implementation of capital projects to meet process, productivity and product quality improvement initiatives

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capability Building
  • Improve process capability
  • Use technical expertise and influence to identify opportunities for process improvement projects, aligned to site strategy (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale).
  • Develop enhanced traceability and reconciliation processes for process performance through generation of data, technical justification, DOE and validation methods.
  • Carry out trending of data, assessing the capability of the process and taking action to improve standardisation, process centre-lining, Line efficiencies and product waste rates.
  • Partner with CI Leads to deliver the Site Changeover Program, utilising SMED/A3/Kaizen and other tools to challenge current thinking and standard work to lock in and sustain. Ensure agreed engineering and process actions are completed.
  • Work alongside Production and Technical Engineering departments to ensure sustainable implementation of operational excellence initiatives. 
  • Lead the implementation of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to: layout optimisation, work flow, process flow, process characterization, process monitoring/control methods, material handling, documentation and training recommendations.

What you will need for the role / what it will take:

  • Degree qualified (engineering / manufacturing related), or significant pharmaceutical industry experience supported by alternative qualifications.
  • Experience of manufacturing in the Food Industry, Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device industry (other highly regulated and quality driven industries may be considered).
  • Project management experience/qualification (e.g.BMBOK, Prince2) would be advantageous.
  • Able to demonstrate application of continuous improvement tools and techniques (Kaizen, Six Sigma, TPM, A3 SMED, RCA) to deliver positive outcomes.
