We are looking for a Hygiene Manager to join our team at the Clitheroe site. This critical role is responsible for ensuring that high standards of hygiene are adhered to and maintained across all sections of the factory, working within hygiene windows. The Hygiene Manager will lead a team of hygiene operatives, overseeing training, cleaning processes, and health and safety compliance. You will play a key role in ensuring food safety standards are never compromised, working collaboratively with other departments to achieve operational excellence. Key Responsibilities / Accountability of the Role:
- Team Supervision and Organisation (25%): Supervise and organise a team of hygiene operatives, ensuring all staff are adequately trained on cleaning instructions and chemical handling. Lead the team to deliver high standards of hygiene throughout the factory.
- Cleaning Instructions Cards (CIC’s) (20%): Assist in writing and maintaining CIC’s for all equipment, ensuring Key Inspection Points (KIP’s) are included. Regularly review CIC’s to improve cleaning processes and time management for each task.
- Standards and KPI’s (25%): Monitor and maintain hygiene standards via visual checks, scheduled swabbing, and hygiene audits. Investigate deviations in standards following any swabbing results that fall outside specifications.
- Planning and Documentation (20%): Plan labour requirements for each shift, manage holiday and absence schedules, and communicate weekly schedules to production and technical teams. Complete necessary documentation such as audit paperwork, training records, and handover documents.
- Project Work (10%): Carry out project work and reporting tasks as required by the business.
What you will need for the Role:
- A good understanding of English and Maths, with a willingness to learn.
- Previous experience working as a hygiene operative within a food industry. Experience as a supervisor or team leader is preferred.
- Strong leadership capabilities, taking a 'hands-on' approach to support and guide the hygiene team where necessary.
- Knowledge of cleaning processes, food safety regulations, and chemical handling.
- Ability to monitor, evaluate, and report on hygiene standards effectively.
