The NPD Manager is the primary contact for all NPD activity within the business unit and is required to manage and maintain the on-going development of new & existing products, in line with strategic business plans. You will handle the co-ordination of all aspects of customer contact, concept development, pre and first -production trials and all internal functions. Delivery of innovative, high quality yet highly profitable new products. This role will suite someone who is looking to take the next step in their career into an NPD Manager role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary interface with the Business Unit customers, responsible for coordinating all NPD activity.
  • Trend and competitor analysis – Assess the potential for NPD concepts into the market, continually striving to produce the highest quality of products in line with market trends.
  • Responsible for interfacing with all internal functions including Production, Packaging, Technical, Planning, Purchasing and Commercial.
  • Responsible for developing critical path on all projects managing them from concept to pre-production through to product on shelf.
  • Responsible for all aspects of product development (after concept and following product approval from customer) including liaison with Development Chefs, problem solving, preparing and maintaining customer specification and pre and first-production trials.
  • Develop products in close liaison with customer from concept through factory trials to first production.
  • Effective handover of new products to factory and technical teams.
  • Product modifications to encompass customer requirements and to reflect changing trends in the marketing place.

What is needed for this role:

  • Relevant food qualifications with a real passion for food and health
  • Previous experience in the food industry
  • Self-motivator, enthusiastic showing a can do approach
  • Good presentation, influencing and communications skills
  • Understanding of business finance with a commercial customer focus Strong project management skills
  • Computer literate – knowledge of customer systems is ideal
