The Role

Here at Hain Daniels we are currently recruiting for a Production Manager at our site in Northallerton. Here, we manufacture fresh soups and porridge for our Yorkshire Provender brand, and some products under retail / foodservice private label.

The Production Manager will lead an efficient production shift; optimising product quality, GMP, customer service, cost, margin and Health & Safety. Specific responsibilities include delivering and exceeding consistent performance targets within a well-trained team, where there is open communication at all levels with focus upon Continuous Improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain factory performance systems to explain all variances and input to future budgets. Examples include compliance to QAS, GMP, Health & Safety, KPI Boards, line efficiency, waste, yields, give-away, and downtime.
  • Review the forward production plans to ensure all resources (plant, labour, materials and packaging) are in place to optimise and deliver the production schedule.
  • Provide information of issues to the daily production meetings to ensure that all opportunities for improvement are captured and implemented.
  • Ensure the T&A system is maintained daily, clear anomalies, input shift changes, holidays, sickness, absences etc. Create new shift patterns in the T&A system.
  • Implementation of Continuous Improvement - 5 Why's to get to root cause analysis.
  • Actively promote the personal development of all staff; assisting in the recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of all personnel where there is a culture of a competent, committed, engaged and motivated workforce.
  • Ensure the factory meets all company policies, procedures and legal requirements with regard to Health & Safety, environment, GMP, Food Safety and Employment Law.
  • Implement the highest standards within the factory to deliver premium quality products to company specification.
  • Ensure all HACCP procedures are adhered to at all times, and CCP's are controlled within specification.
  • Ensure all start up check documentation is completed to ensure a safe, efficient and hygienic manufacturing area.

What you will need for the role / what it will take

 
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the food industry.
  • Relevant food manufacturing qualifications, including basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety training.
  • Experience with HACCP, allergens, food processing systems, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Proven people and change management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
  • IT literate.
