The Role

Here at Hain Daniels we are currently recruiting for a Technical Manager at our site in Northallerton. Here, we manufacture fresh soups and porridge for our Yorkshire Provender brand, and some products under retail / foodservice private label.

The Technical Manager will be accountable for all aspects of Food Safety, Legislation and Quality of products produced in the factory.

To help support the day-to-day activity of the team in ensuring the effectiveness of factory processes in line with the needs of the business, to continually meet, improve and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the HACCP documents are up to date and that the Critical Control Points are implemented within the factory.
  • Act upon legislation and guidelines to ensure that manufacturing is conducted legally.
  • Advise on hygiene and housekeeping, factory fabrication and food handling practices to ensure products are produced in a food safe environment.
  • Ensure compliance to customers' policies and standards and the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety.
  • Provide information and expertise to external customers on all Food Safety, Quality and critical path/process related matter. Attend customer meetings, training sessions and comply with customer's standards and policies.
  • To be actively involved in Quality and Product Improvement projects and initiatives (whether in-house, or customer led)
  • Be the main point of contact, and to conduct customer audits.
  • Management responsibilities, including recruitment/interviewing, inductions, training, development, appraisals, and to ensure that all paperwork and company policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure that the department operates within budget.

What you will need for the role / what it will take

  • Ideally degree educated in a food or science related discipline.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • IT literate.
  • People management experience, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good time management and organisational skills, ability to prioritise workload efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
